Dear Friend,
I was recently in Baltimore celebrating my brother’s 40th birthday and all he wanted was to go to the AJR concert (go see my insta highlights for us head banging lol).
But the lead singer told a story from the stage of how the first time they played Baltimore 8 years ago there were 175 people in the audience and over half of them were comped.
He said, “but I kept telling our story and we’re here tonight to a sold out crowd of 10,000”….
There is money and opportunity waiting for you when you tell your story.
Don’t believe me?
Further proof.
I believe when it’s happening for your neighbor it’s about to happen for you.
I have experienced numerous miracles in my life when I have told my story and made the ask (and if you’re reading this – I know it’s coming your way.)
: When an investor wrote me a check for $150,000 even though we’d only known each other for 10 minutes. That was a life-changing miracle.
: When a flooring company provided $300,000 worth of materials for my new dance studio and rehearsal space—free of charge. Another miracle.
: When I got a TV show deal with the Oprah Winfrey Network. (And Ms. Winfrey herself gave me a nickname: “Black Boy Joy!”)
All of these opportunities happened because I did one thing: I told my story & I asked consistently.
I reached out. I got a meeting on the schedule. I told the story of my career, my mission, and where I am heading in life. I told my story and then I made a BIG ASK…and the request was fulfilled.
I think we don’t have what we want because we don’t ask for it.
Ouch.
I know.
For the next 4 months I want to work with you to make a powerful transformation in the way you approach your work day.
We succeed when we’re in community and we’re held accountable to consistency.
Everything that you want is on the other side of your commitment to being uncomfortable.
It’s time to make bank with your story.
My all,
Robert Hartwell
